The Needham, our most famous and popular treat, was originally created in or about 1872 in Portland, Maine during a revival held by Rev. George Needham. This traditional treat became common, and has been handed down generation to generation. We’re proud to honor this Maine treasure. Robin’s Needhams are handmade from real potatoes - we boil and mash every day - and are mixed with coconut, sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and salt before we hand-dip each one in luscious, rich dark chocolate. You can't taste the potato - it simply creates the moist, creamy texture. Potatoes are abundant in Maine - hence the nickname “Maine’s Potato Candy”.
